What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?

Semi-permanent eyelash extensions will give you longer, thicker and very natural looking eyelashes. They look so natural noone will know they are not yours! Eyelash extensions are worn by famous celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Star Jones, Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Gwen Stefani, Lucy Liu, Naomi Campbell and Liz Hurley to name a few. But you don’t have to be a celebrity to wear them. Women everywhere are catching on and becoming Lash Addicted!

LASH OUT! eyelash extension professionals specialize in this revolutionary new service that will extend your natural eyelashes and draw attention to your eyes. Extensions are perfect for everyday wear as well as special occasions. They are semi-permanent and made from synthetic fibers. Each lash is applied one by one to your own natural lashes. With proper care and touchup visits they can last a very long time. Normally a person’s natural eyelash falls out every 60 – 90 days and a new lash grows in immediately. Therefore, it is necessary to get touch-ups to fill in the fallen lashes. About every 2 to 3 weeks is recommended, however, this will vary from person to person. Your natural lash cycle as well as how you take care of your lashes will affect how long they last. Some LASH OUT! clients have had their extensions for over a year with regular touchups visits.

The extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They provide length and thickness to your own lashes and are available in varying lengths and thickness. They are applied to your individual eyelashes, one lash at a time. There is no need for mascara even though a water based mascara is fine to use. The result is thicker, longer, eye opening eyelashes that are safe in the shower, while swimming, sleeping or exercising.

Eyelash extensions are great for everyday wear or special occassions. Eyelash extensions brighten and open your eyes. Eyelash extensions have gained a tremendous amount of popularity in the last couple of years because the look acheived is so natural. Whether you are looking for an everyday look, lashes for your wedding day or just a weekend away LASH OUT! professionals have a perfected technique that will transform your look to WOW!

Double flare individual lashes, by Elegant Lashes.

I love how more and more people are warming up to individual flare lashes these days, but sooner or later they’re gonna start wishing some lash company out there would make a super thick version of them. Right?!

Well, even if that’s not what you were thinking (yet) that’s exactly what we did. We went ahead and added double the amount of hairs per knot so you get double the thickness, double the lusciousness, and double the volume of regular flare lashes. We aptly named them Double Flares. Check out these bad boys~

Don’t tell me that didn’t get you excited. Just look at how plush and luxuriously dense they look. Last time I checked, no other false eyelash brand out there has flare lashes as dense as ours. AKA, these are by far the hairiest, thickest flare lashes you will EVER find on the market! Look at how crazy full and lush that looks. It’s unbelievable how much hair is packed into each cluster. With that being said, the knot (the bulb part of the eyelash that you dip into the glue) is a bit larger than what you’re used to because there’s so much hair packed in each cluster so make sure you do your best to snuggle the Double Flare lashes between your natural ones. (You can watch a tutorial on how to apply individual lashes here.) It might take some getting used to but I absolutely love the results I get from wearing these and it looks like makeup artists also can’t get enough of our Double Flares!

Why do you need eyelash extensions?

I am not blessed with beautiful, long, impressive eyelashes.  Mine are pretty non-existent until I whip out my mascara and apply a few coats, so I’ve always been interested in other ways of accentuating my lashes.

After becoming a Glossy Box ambassador I received two tokens which allowed me to receive a HD Brow AND a Blink + Go Lash Extension treatment which I quickly booked up with excitement, so that I’d be transformed and gorgeous for the Christmas party season.  I visited the Karen Betts clinic in 1 Harley Street to film and document the whole process of HD Brows & Blink + Go extensions with Glossy Box, which will be online soon to watch (I’ll post it here when its live)!

(I’m reviewing my whole HD Brows treatment in another blog post because it is quite lengthy, so stay tuned for that!)

Before I start yapping away about the procedure, here are the before and after photographs with my brand new lashes and brows!

Blink + Go procedure – The whole procedure takes around 20-30 minutes and is pretty straight forward!
You and your consultant talk through the look you want to achieve with your lashes, whether it be subtle or striking.  I chose to have relatively natural looking lashes because I hardly ever wear falsies and thought it would be quite a leap to have full on false-looking lashes.

You have to keep your eyes open throughout the whole treatment (to prevent the glue sticking your eyes together!) which does become slightly uncomfortable as your eyes do start to water (from the fumes of the glue & from not being able to blink often) but after a while your eyes adjust and it isn’t that bad.  Your consultant will hold your eye open and apply lashes one by one, building up a few layers until the desired affect is finished.  And voila – you are left with gorgeous, fluttery lashes.

I love that you can hardly tell that they are false in the photograph below – they are attached so well and beautifully that they look so real.

Aftercare – You can’t use any oil based makeup removers whilst having the lashes as it loosens the glue so they will fall out quicker.  You can’t wet your eyes or go swimming for 24hours after treatment.

One thing I loved about these lash extensions was that I couldn’t see or feel them – one thing I despise with falsies is how heavy they make my eyes feel and how I can see them when I wear them, but with these I hardly noticed I was wearing them until I touched my eyes.  The lashes did start irritating my eyes after a few days but only in the evenings when I was tired; when I opened my eyes and looked up I could feel them digging into my skin which was uncomfortable but not unbearable.  One or two also fell out every day after the treatment but because there were so many it wasn’t noticeable.

4 Things I Learned From Getting Eyelash Extensions.

1. It’s hard to keep your eyes closed and still for almost three hours. It was as if someone had told me not to think about purple elephants. The more I thought about my eyes remaining still, the more I found it nearly impossible. I was making lists of what I had to do that day and questions I had about the process and mentally writing this post. All of that brain activity was causing my lids to flutter and twitch. The technician even asked me if I was thinking hard. When I answered yes, she said she could tell. But what else are you supposed to do when your eyes must remain shut for hours at a time? Nap, I guess.

2. No two designs are the same. I was blown away by all the different options. Xtreme Lashes come in numerous lengths, thicknesses, and curls. And Lorenzini really studied my natural lashes before deciding on a design she felt would be most flattering, after, of course, asking me what I was looking for. Did I mention the colors? While I went with a natural brown-black, they offer any color under the sun.Allure beauty assistant Irma Elezovic is known for rocking purple mascara daily—a fun surprise when it catches the light—but how fun would it be to add some colored tips via extensions? It’s like ombré for your lashes.

3. Eyelash extensions are not for the faint of heart. These babies are high-maintenance. Along with my new look, I received a list of rules and left armed with my tools. The extensions require daily combing with a clean spooley brush (I’ve found sleeping on my back saves me some extra effort in the morning), and you must not get them wet within the first 24 hours. Taking my eye makeup off has also become a daunting task. Makeup wipes are a must, as my previously trusted cotton pads left me picking lint off of my lashes for 15 minutes. No matter how gentle you are, they will slowly (and discreetly) fall out the way your natural lashes do. So far, I’ve been able to easily conceal any gaps with a bit of mascara.

4. You will become addicted. I can’t believe I waited so long to give eyelash extensions a shot, and I can’t imagine how sad my natural lashes will look once they’re all gone. The extensions are supposed to last three to four weeks, and from there you can get them filled in, which I plan on doing. Since getting the lashes, I have been receiving loads of compliments. I, like my friends, feel the need to accept the compliments with, “Lash extensions. You must try them.”

Valentines day eyelash extensions

Glad Lash is spreading the Valentine’s Day ‘Lash Love’ with this natural beauty! Deborah was such a treat to paint. To get this easy to duplicate sexy but oh so natural look for the Valentine’s Day, remember….muted or matte shades are work best.
As I wanted this sultry look to be a bit dewy, to prep the skin I used a delicate moisturizer and added a liquid golden illuminizer to her cheekbones, the bridge of her nose and on her Cupid’s bow (the curve in the middle of her upper lip).

Eyes…Deborah’s eye shape is naturally exquisite so to play up her natural cat eye shape, I used matte colors on her eyes for a classic makeup application. Pink on her eyelids and browns in her crease. I also used a brown eyeliner on the upper inside water line to elongate her top lash line and used a highlight pencil on the lower water line to accent the whites of her eyes. To extend her cat eye shape, I used Maybelline’s Graphic black eyeliner marker. This made the look more dramatic and seductive. A cat eye and strip lashes are always suggestive. Perfect for the 50 shades of whatever weekend you have ahead…wink wink!!

Lashes…I used Glad Lash’s Accent strip lashes on the outer corners and added a few black individuals or clusters onto the middle of her lash line to give a bit more volume. I also used Glad Lash’s black strip lash adhesive for the strips. The effect is ooooh la la! A natural but sexy way to achieve that ‘come hither’ look! Of course I curled her lashes first, applied black mascara and also added mascara after the lash application.

Foundation…I used HD Makeup Forever liquid foundation, a Charlotte Tilbury concealer liquid stick under her eyes, contoured her cheeks, nose and forehead and lightly powdered her T-Zone area. I wanted her to be slightly dewy so didn’t want to over do it with setting her foundation.

Cheeks…Added a matte mauve color to her apples and more bronzer to add to the contour, then blended.
Lips…I mixed two Too Faced Melted colors for her muted lips.

Eyebrows…Groomed and filled in a bit.
A romantic, sophisticated and simply gorgeous ‘Get the Look’ to celebrate this special occasion. Glad Lash wishes you all a heartfelt Valentine’s day with Lashes full of Love.
